Coming Soon, To A Pharmacy Near You...

Sunday July 8, 2007
Be on the look-out! Wyeth Pharmaceuticals is planning to make the first ever 365 day prescription birth control pill, Lybrel, available for purchase sometime this month! Unfortunately, Wyeth has yet to announce what the price for these pills will be.

I can tell you that Lybrel will be packaged in a typical, round, plastic Click Case (like several other birth control pill brands). Each case will contain 28 round, yellow, film-coated tablets. The tablets contain 90 mcg levonorgestrel and 20 mcg ethinyl estradiol, so Lybrel would is considered to be a low dose combination birth control pill.

In case you have not heard, Lybrel, a name meant to conjure up the images of liberty, is the latest approved oral contraceptive to depart from the 21-days-on, seven-days-off birth control pill routine that had been standard since the pill was introduced in the 1960s. The National Women's Health Network estimates 12 million women take birth control pills, the most popular form of contraception for the past four decades. Lybrel is the first and only combination birth control pill which offers complete protection from pregnancy without any break since it is taken, nonstop, for 365 days a year. It is also the first FDA approved oral contraceptive meant to indefinitely put a stop to women's monthly periods.

As soon as I learn more about a release date, I will surely provide you all with an update! In the meantime... find out exactly what the buzz is all about; I introduce you to - Lybrel.
