People come up with all kinds of imaginative and playful ways to celebrate this day of honoring those you love. As a result of such creative ideas, people begin to wonder how "great" their ideas may actually be. On that notion, here is an excerpt from an email that I received from Hayley:
"I was thinking about surprising my fiancé with a romantic Valentine's Day bubble bath (he's been hinting that he would like to be a little more adventurous). Is this safe? We currently use condoms for protection because I am waiting to start the pill. My coworker mentioned that if the tub water was hot enough, his sperm would be killed or maybe it will just lower sperm his count? Any advice?"
Many people have misconceptions about the safety of under water sex. Keep in mind, STDs, HIV, and additional bacterial infections can still be spread while having sex in a pool, ocean, or hot tub. Plus, no matter what type or temperature the water is, you can still get pregnant (not to mention that oil lubricants, like bubble bath and soap can make a condom less effective).
Yet, I can appreciate how some of you all may use Valentine's Day as a way to spice up your sex life, so, let's fully explore Hayley's question: is sex under water safe?
