Vaginal contraceptive film (or VCF) is a hormone-free, 2X2-inch thin sheet of film that acts as a barrier to immobilize sperm. VCF contains the spermicide Nonoxynol-9 that kills sperm on contact. VCF can be inserted 15 minutes before sex, dissolves completely and can last for 3 hours. This is considered to be a safe and effective contraceptive, and there are little to no side effects.
