So, when it comes to significant legal battles in the world of women's reproductive rights, the infamous Roe v. Wade case is usually the one that comes to mind. In my opinion, however, there is even a more critical Supreme Court case... one that truly opened the door to a woman's right to privacy and paved the way to many of the sexual freedoms we enjoy today.
The case I am referring to is none other than the 1965 Griswold v. Connecticut ruling. Yet, you may be wondering, what's so special about Griswold v. Connecticut? Well, let me ask you... do you use any form of contraception? If your answer is yes, then you have Griswold v. Connecticut to thank!
I can't even imagine what it would be like today if the Supreme Court came to a different ruling on this case. Having access to contraception reduces unwanted pregnancies, abortions and allows us the freedom to choose when and if we want to become parents. Through reliable and comprehensive sex education, we can learn about ALL of our contraceptive options and take an active role in managing our fertility.
