This month marks the two year anniversary of the availability of Nexplanon (the newer form of the birth control implant Implanon). Ever since gaining FDA approval, women throughout the United States have been choosing this progestin-only option and have been welcoming the opportunity to have their doctors insert Nexplanon. One insertion equals three years of pregnancy protection. Nexplanon allows for more accuracy during the insertion process than Implanon. When inserted properly, it is 99.9% effective - making it one of the most effective long-acting, reversible methods of contraception.
