Who Initiated the Sex Talk and Who Was Present?
I have talked with my mum about sex for at least 4 years. It's nice to know I can talk to her. She initiated the sex talk with me. It was just the two of us, and we have always been real close.
The Major Points That Were Discussed
I'm 15, turning 16 on 2nd of aug. Basically, my mum and I have talked about sex and some basic contraception. She does not know a lot about the various hormonal and prescription methods out there. So, tomorrow I am goimg to talk to a doctor about contraception that I can use with my boyfriend of 13 months. We have waited to have sex and plan to do when we are both 16 and fully protected. My boyfriend is great at understanding this. My mum and I have had long conversations about what would be best option.
Advice
- Be honest. If you are not, your parents can't really help you.
- If your parents know you are interested in having sex, they may look at you differently. In my case, it made me feel closer to my mum.

What Questions Did You Ask? Were They All Answered?
I already knew about sex, so my questions have always centered on when do you know its the right time to have sex and how to best protect myself from pregnancy. My mum has always tried to answer my questions the best way she could. She has referred me to the doctor so my questions can be answered.

Weird! Its embarrasing to tell your parents that you want to have sex. But, its a natural part of getting older and wanting to explore the sensual side of yourself.

Always - until this last talk when my mum didn't know as much about contraception as I would have liked.
